We are aiming to bake through several creative cupcakes this summer and plan on sharing our difficulties along with our hopefully amazing creations.
These first two are out of the Martha Stewart cupcake book - Ice Cream Cone Cupcakes and Graduation Day Cupcakes.
After making both the butter cream frosting for the ice cream cones and the diplomas for the graduation cupcakes, I have decided that Martha Stewart might misdirect you in one area possibly to make her self feel superior. Kidding, however in both recipes there was a step where we were utterly confused on how it was possible. The butter cream really doesn't peak before the butter is added and you really cannot do 6 scrolls at a time. We beat the butter cream frosting for twice the time she said it would take and never got the results the book said. I then went online and figured out just to add the butter then. When doing the diplomas, we found that they would harden within an extra 5 seconds - luckily we used a bit of team work and most of them turned out okay. We didn't exactly follow the instructions for the diplomas as far as measuring but it worked out anyways. However, the diplomas definitely tasted good.
